Team: Arizona Wranglers
Years Active: 1983-1985
Home: Sun Devil Stadium (Tempe, AZ)
To avoid playing in Tempe’s oppressive heat, the Wranglers played the second half of their season schedule primarily on the road. They’re remembered most for their role in the single largest professional sports transaction of all-time. On September 30, 1983, the rosters of the Wranglers and the Chicago Blitz were traded for each other. Eventual two-time NFL Coach of the Year and Washington D.C. football legend George Allen led the Wranglers to a 12-9 record and a Western Division Championship in 1984.
