Established as the Kansas City Scouts in 1974, the Rockies' in six seasons in Colorado , went through eight coaches, most notably Don Cherry. As a result, the team had little stability and never had a winning record. Amazingly, the Rockies qualified for the playoffs with a 19-40-21 record during the 1977-78 season, but were swept in the first round. The team played it's final season in 1982, after which it was sold and moved to New Jersey.
