Team: Denver Gold
Years Active: 1983-1985
Home: Mile High Stadium (Denver, CO)

The Denver Gold were charter members of the and played their inaugural game on national television at Mile High Stadium in front of 45,000 fans. It was a high point for what would become one of the worst run franchises in the league. The notoriously cheap owner refused to sign the team's draft picks which in turn led to frustration for coaches and fans alike. When fans finally gave up on the team, a scheduled home playoff game was changed to a road game because ABC did not want to show the empty stadium in what would be the team's final game. Oddly, the Gold were the only USFL team to turn a profit.
