Although they were called the Sea Lions, the front of this San Francisco-based team's jerseys featured a bear. The uniforms actually belonged to the San Francisco Cubs, a little-known team that rarely played in San Francisco and traveled the country year round. When the Sea Lions joined the newly created West Coast Negro League, they purchased the Cubs' uniforms. While little information is available about either team, both the Sea Lions and Cubs were known to have toured Canada where they played in several tournaments.
